pan Provides Psychologists With Automated Stress, Integrity, And Aggression Testing
August 20, 2002. Carmel, IN Today Performance Assessment Network, Inc. (pan) -- announced that it is offering an extensive catalogue of automated, web-based tests for psychologists. pan will be showcasing the tests at the American Psychological Association 110th Annual Convention at Chicagos McCormick Place Lakeside Center August 22-25.
"The pan catalogue is distinctive in offering a wide range of tests and assessments for psychologists in clinical, counseling, industrial, consulting, school, and research environments," according to David T. Pfenninger, Ph.D., pan founder and CEO. "This year at APA we are drawing attention to some very timely instruments, namely, measures of reliability and integrity for job screening, aggressive tendencies, and occupational stress."
pan's Chief Science Officer Reid E. Klion, Ph.D. elaborates: "Organizations are increasingly concerned about the potentially problematic behavior of their employees, with psychologists often being involved in both assessing and intervening in these situations. pan provides a broad range of test content in an easy-to-use web-based assessment management system. Practitioners now have a single source for dozens of products from the top test publishers that frees them from much of the administrative burden of managing the assessment process."
Some of the products featured include the Conditional Reasoning Test of Aggression, licensed from The Psychological Corporation. The test is used to screen for attitudinal tendencies correlating with impulsive and aggressive behavior and problems with organizational citizenship performance. The Job Stress Inventory (Alliant International University) assesses perceived levels and sources of stress within organizations, such as physical demands/danger, time pressure, red tape, lack of supervisor skill, and lack of control. Abbreviated Reid Report (Pearson Performance Solutions), Applicant Risk Profiler (G. Neil), and SureHire (PSI) are among the extensive pan roster of pre-employment reliability and integrity tests used by psychologists to evaluate risk for absenteeism, theft, policy non-compliance, and drug or alcohol-related work problems. Personality Research Form (Sigma), New Workforce Inventory (Kingwood Group), and Work Personality Index (Psychometrics) are examples of validated personality factor measures used to evaluate the person-job-culture goodness of fit. Employee Relationship Report (Walker Information) is a widely used organizational survey measuring employee loyalty, commitment, and reasons for job turnover.
The pan team is confident that their online testing model has set the industry standard: "When we first invented online testing in the mid-90s, pan had some difficulty in attracting psychologist users," Pfenninger observes. "But now there is a sense of inevitability about e-testing and significant market adoption taking place. The youthful demographic profile and fluid practice patterns of the contemporary psychologist, combined with the significant cost and time savings and demonstrated validity and security models, guarantee the long-term viability of this new delivery medium."
"Based upon our experience in the area of web-based assessment, we have developed a number of innovations to facilitate the testing process," notes Klion. "For example, we can create batteries composed of tests from multiple publishers and are also able to deliver accurately timed tests over the Internet. pan manages proctored as well as remote assessment sessions and we have integrated our system with several of our clients back office and data processing applications. As a result, we have the competence and experience to manage a broad range of online assessment solutions."
pan currently features a growing catalogue of over 220 fully automated, web-based tests and assessments in twelve categories from 45 test developers, making it the only multi-vendor distributor of online tests in the industry. pan has received industrial security clearance from the U.S. government to handle Confidential Level data, utilizes the latest security and encryption technology. Through its pan power "private label" programs, pan is the web assessment services and solutions provider for hundreds of international customers, including Canadian Public Service Commission, Society for Human Resource Management, Target Corp., Procter & Gamble, Georgia-Pacific, American United Life, Eli Lilly & Co., Motorola, ISG, and U.S. Steel. pan is based in Carmel, IN with technology operations in Toronto and Houston.
