October 6, 2004 Initiative to Improve Workforce Assessment Practices Receives Boost from pan
Performance Assessment Network, Inc. (pan), the international best-practices provider of web assessment and e-testing solutions, today announced its sponsorship of a new Partnership for Public Service report on federal hiring practices. pan CEO, David Pfenninger Ph.D., a veteran thought leader and senior executive in the assessment industry, will participate on a panel of public and private sector applicant assessment experts who will discuss the report's findings at an October 12 launch event at the SunTrust Conference Center in Washington D.C
"As the 9/11 Commission has found, having the right person in the right federal job can quite literally mean the difference between life and death. Our report analyzes the methods the federal government uses for assessing talent, and shows that they are outdated and in need of dramatic reform," said Max Stier, president and CEO of Partnership for Public Service, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing government service. "Thanks to pan's valuable support of this project, we hope to drive change by showing federal agency leaders how effective assessment tools can help build a high-performing federal workforce."
pan's CEO Dr. David Pfenninger. "pan believes that public-private partnering successes - such as the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's current initiative -- point to opportunities for enhanced federal job candidate assessments. Web-based assessment solutions have emerged as an essential discipline for evaluating talent. By getting assessment data quickly, federal hiring managers can manage their candidate pipelines, compete with industry for talent, and ensure that the right people are in the right place - at the right time. We commend the Partnership for Public Service for its assessment report, a much needed wake-up call with serious practical and policy implications."
Federal executives, policymakers, stakeholders in the private sector, and editors may register for the October 12 event in Washington D.C. by contacting Bethany Hardy, press secretary for Partnership for Public Service, at 202-775-9111 or bhardy@ourpublicservice.org. Copies of the new report will also be available through Partnership for Public Service on the day of the event.
